MURAL craft for conservation and restoration services with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Media to work on cultural assets was founded in 2014 and operates throughout Croatia. He is primarily specialized in creating proposals for conservation-restoration procedures and carrying out conservation-restoration works on wall paintings and buildings under protection. The activity also includes conducting investigative work on cultural assets, writing conservation-restoration studies, documenting conservation-restoration interventions, and maintenance of immovable cultural assets.
All planned and performed interventions are in accordance with prescribed norms and the highest professional standards. Mural cooperates with numerous institutions, conservators-restorers, of various specializations, and with experts who deal with the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
The owner and manager of the works, Marko Buljan, graduated in 2010 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Department of Art Conservation and Restoration, majoring in painting. Immediately after that, he was employed at the Croatian Restoration Institute in Osijek, where he worked on buildings of immovable cultural heritage. In 2012, he passed the professional exam for the basic professional title of conservator – restorer for the narrow specialty of wall painting. In 2013, he received a license to perform conservation-restoration works on wall paintings. In 2014, he opened his business for conservation and restoration services, Mural. In 2022, he became a senior conservator – restorer for the narrow specialty of wall painting. In the same year, he became the first permanent court expert in the field of conservation and restoration in Croatia.
